The village of Lochbuie is situated at the head of Loch Buie on the
south
coast
of the Isle
of Mull some 14 miles from the ferry terminal at
Craignure. The area is renowned for its scenic landscape,
shimmering beaches, abundant wildlife.
Lochbuie is also steeped in history as the
home of the Clan MacLaine who resided at Moy Castle and then at Lochbuie
House.
Lochbuie is a walkers paradise and there are many
walks around the village, to the Stone Circle, Moy Castle, St. Kilda's
Church, Laggan Sands, Iron Age Fort and the Mausoleum. For the more
adventurous there is a beautiful shore walk to Carsaig - please see the
map kindly created by Hannah
Thompson.
Lochbuie is a tranquil haven just awaiting your
discovery.
Experience the beautiful landscape,
mountains, woodland, spectacular coastline and leave behind the stresses
of modern life.
Lochbuie Estate has created and maintained car-parks
and walks around the area as well as a site for camping,
see map.
Please note that Lochbuie House is a private residence
so please observe the footpath signs, keep dogs under control and
maintain the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
