Two of the self catering cottages on the Lochbuie Estate are :  Mabel and Kathleen

The cottages are 14 miles from Craignure at the head of Lochbuie.  Ordnance Survey Sheet No. 49, grid reference 622 248.

Mabel Cottage Accommodation

GROUND FLOOR: 1 Bedroom with twin beds

Mabel is a comfortable traditional stone built cottage, with a modern kitchen
including an electric cooker, a fridge, freezer and microwave.

The cottage is heated throughout and there is a multi fuel stove in the sitting room which will heat the water but there is a back up of an immersion heater as well. The cottage is on mains electricity but has a private water supply.

Firewood is not provided but any FALLEN wood or drift wood may be collected and coal can be bought in Craignure. Electricity and linen are included in the rent.

The Cottage is open all year with short breaks available from November to March. The lets run from 3.00pm on day of arrival to 10.00 on day of departure.

Each bed has two pillows a continental quilt and blanket, sheets, pillowcases quilt cover and towels are provided. There is car parking space.  The payphone number is 01680 814205.  There is a double sofa bed and bedding.

The nearest shop, garage and petrol station are at Craignure.

The house will be clean and comfortable for you when you arrive and we would be grateful if you could leave it in the same way.  This is most important.


Directions

Turn left off the ferry and approximately 7 miles from Craignure turn left to Lochbuie. After passing the sea loch and the fresh water loch, turn first left at the white gates and Lodge. Turn 1st left again and Mabel and Kathleen Cottages are the 2nd and 3rd cottages on the left. It is an un-made up road from the gates.

The cottages have stunning sea views and there is a sandy beach nearby. There is an abundance of wild life round the cottages, including deer, Golden Eagles, Sea Eagles and otters.
 

Deposit

We ask for a deposit of 50% at the time of booking.  This will be returned if the booking cannot be accepted, otherwise it is non-refundable.  The deposit must be received within 2 weeks of the enquiry, to avoid disappointment, and the full amount must be received 2 weeks before the start of the holiday.  All bookings run from 3pm Saturday afternoon until 10.30am the Saturday of departure.

Both cottages are available for short breaks between October and April - please ask

The Isle of Mull

The island is well known for its varied dramatic coastline and offers a wide range of activities - bird watching, hill walking, pony trekking, fishing.  There are 2 nine hole golf courses.  Boat trips to Staffa and the Treshnish Isles can be arranged and there is a regular ferry service to Iona.

Lochbuie has a sandy beach suitable for swimming.  Boats may be hired on Loch Uisg for trout fishing, while Loch Spelve is a sheltered sea loch suitable for sailing and fishing.
